Need a hand?
One small team, one inbox. Direct email is the fastest way to reach us — we aim to reply within two business days, often the same day.
For anything at all — bug reports, billing questions, feature requests, account deletion, privacy or data-export requests, press enquiries — write to james@ideagen.tech.
For urgent matters, mention “urgent” in the subject line and we’ll prioritise it.
Two business days is our target for first reply. We work Monday through Friday, Malaysia time (UTC+8). Replies sent over the weekend land first thing on Monday.
What is RecipeGen?
An iOS app for meal-planning, smart pantry tracking, and AI-assisted recipe input. The grocery list subtracts what you already have at home before suggesting what to buy.
Is it free?
For most cooks, yes. The free tier holds up to fifty recipes, the full pantry, meal plan, and shopping list, and gives you five AI ops a month for URL imports, recipe generation, and pantry photo capture. Pantry Pro at $3.99 / month or $30.99 / year lifts every cap and removes the AI quota — see Pricing.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open the app → Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription. That opens the in-app Customer Center where you can cancel, switch between monthly and annual, or request a refund. You can also cancel directly through iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Either way, you keep Pantry Pro until the period you’ve already paid for ends.
Does the 7-day trial automatically renew?
Yes — Apple charges the first subscription fee at the end of day seven unless you’ve cancelled by then. You can cancel during the trial without being charged, and you keep trial access for the remaining days. Apple grants the trial once per Apple ID.
What does the credit pack cover?
The $1.99 credit pack adds ten AI ops to your account. These sit on top of the free monthly five and never expire. Useful when you’ve already used your free quota for the month and just want to import this one recipe. The pack is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
What devices are supported?
iPhone first (iOS 15.1 and up), with Android coming after. The app uses the camera for snap-to-pantry but is otherwise lightweight.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app: Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. The flow asks you to type DELETE in caps and re-enter your password to confirm — the password step guards against accidental deletion from an unattended phone. All your recipes, plans, pantry items, grocery lists, cook history, and AI usage records are removed immediately and irreversibly. You can also email james@ideagen.tech and we’ll do it for you within two business days.
How is my data handled?
We collect what the app needs to work — your account email, the recipes / plans / pantry you save, and AI usage records. We don’t sell data, don’t use private recipes for model training, and don’t embed third-party advertising. Pantry photos are processed in-memory only; they’re forwarded to OpenAI for recognition and not stored on our servers. See Privacy for the full picture.
What counts as an AI op?
One AI op is a single call to one of these features: generating a recipe from a craving, importing from a URL, or extracting items from a pantry photo or receipt. Display-name moderation and ingredient normalization run on the same backend but don’t count against your quota. The free tier is five ops a month; remaining quota is shown in the import and snap screens.
A user is posting bad content. What do I do?
On any public recipe, tap the “⋯” menu and choose Report this recipe, Report the author, or Block author. Reports go to a moderation queue we review and act on. You can manage who you’ve blocked from Settings → Blocked users.
How old do I need to be to use RecipeGen?
You must be at least 13 years old. If you’re under 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher), a parent or legal guardian needs to have reviewed the Terms of use and agreed on your behalf. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 — if you believe a minor has signed up, email james@ideagen.tech and we’ll remove the account.
I’m a guest. Can I keep my data when I sign up?
Yes. Save your account from Settings; the app links your email and password to the existing guest user, so all your recipes, pantry items, and plans stay attached.
Can I export my recipes?
Today, no — but it’s on our list. Email us if this is urgent for you and we’ll prioritise it.
Where do I report a bug?
Email james@ideagen.tech with what you did, what you expected, and what actually happened. A screenshot or screen recording helps a lot. Mention your iOS version and roughly when it happened so we can dig through logs.
For the moment we don’t run a separate status page — the app is small, the backend is hosted on Supabase, and outages have been rare enough that an email is the fastest signal both ways. If you suspect something’s down, write in.
